3 Texas Deputies Shot From Behind In Ambush Attack

Houston, TX – One Harris County Precinct 4 Deputy Constable was murdered, and two others are in critical condition after an ambush attack outside of a nightclub.

The incident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. in the 4400 block of the North Freeway at the 45 Norte Sport Bar, according to KTRK.

Two deputies were working an extra job at the club when there was a disturbance outside.

“It turns out it may have been a robbery they were intervening in … probably unknown to them at the time,” Houston PD Executive Assistant Chief James Jones said, according to CNN. “(The deputies) were just totally ambushed.”

While the two deputies were trying to detain a suspect, another person with a rifle came up behind them and shot the deputies.

A third deputy heard gunshots and responded; he was shot before he could even draw his gun, according to Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

All deputies were transported to a hospital where one died and the other two deputies remain in critical condition.

One suspect has been arrested, but it’s believed that the gunman is still at large.

Authorities are still searching for a Hispanic male in his early 20s, last ween wearing a white t-shirt, and blue jeans.
