Granite, OK – Oklahoma school officials have confirmed that a now-former temporary teacher’s aide for Granite Public Schools was charged with having sex multiple times with one of her 16-year-old students, starting just about two weeks after she began working at the high school.
Granite Public Schools’ Superintendent Missy Berry said that 22-year-old Ashley Waffle started her new job working as a temporary teacher’s aide for the school district on Oct. 10, KWSO reported.
Court documents showed that that an investigation was launched by authorities on Nov. 9 after some Granite Public Schools’ employees caught wind of a rumored sexual relationship between Waffle and one of her 16-year-old male students.
Police detectives who investigated the allegations of the illicit affair determined that Waffle had been having sexual relations with the high school student, KSWO reported.
In fact, investigators determined that the temporary teacher’s aide had had sex with the 16-year-old student inside her apartment at least twice, according to police.
Granite Public Schools fired Waffle on Nov. 10, the day after authorities launched the investigation into the allegations that the brand-new teacher was having sex with at least one of her students.
School district officials said that district employees were “actively working with law enforcement” in their investigation, KSWO reported.
