Teacher Out Of Job After Calling Students Pathetic For Not Agreeing With Her Political Views

Lehi, UT – A high school chemistry teacher is out of a job after a video surfaced showing her calling students “pathetic” for not agreeing with her regarding climate change, vaccinations, and former President Donald Trump.

“You can believe what you want to believe, but keep it quiet in here because I’m probably going to make fun of ya,” now-former Lehi High School chemistry teacher Leah Kinyon told her class on Tuesday, according to KSTU.

One student recorded a video of Kinyon’s opinionated ramblings, which he later showed to his mother, according to the news outlet.

“I hate Donald Trump,” the chemistry teacher declared at one point. “I’m gonna say it. I don’t care what y’all think. Trump sucks.”

“This is a chemistry class!” one student attempted to interject as Kinyon’s rant continued.

“He is a sexual predator,” the teacher opined. “He’s a literal moron.”

A student again pointed out that the class was supposed to be about chemistry, but Kinyon was undeterred.

“Go tattle on me to the freakin’ admin! They don’t give a crap,” she argued.

Kinyon also implored her students to get the COVID-19 vaccine and said they were “rude” if they refuse to comply with her order.

“We’ll just keep getting variants over and over until people get vaccinated,” Kinyon said in the video. “It’s never going to end…It could end in five seconds if people would get vaccinated.”

“This is my classroom, and if you guys are going to put me at risk, you’re going to hear about it,” the unmasked teacher told the teens. “Because I have to be here. I don’t have to be happy about the fact that there’s kids coming in here with their variants that could possibly get me or my family sick. That’s rude! And I’m not going to pretend like it’s not, so don’t ask me to.”

Kinyon then attacked the intelligence of her students’ parents, as well as her own, the video showed.

“Most of y’all’s parents are dumber than you. I’m gonna say that out loud,” she said. “My parents are frickin’ dumb, okay? And the minute I figured that out, the world opened up.”

“You don’t have to do everything your parents say, and you don’t have to believe everything your parents believe, because most likely, you’re smarter than them!” Kinyon added.

The teacher then proceeded to tell her students to “get the hell out” of her classroom if they “don’t believe in climate change,” the video showed.

“That’s pathetic that you think that,” Kinyon told one student who apparently disagreed with her. “You’re the problem with the world.”

She went on to warn her students that anyone who is a “homophobe” also needs to get out of her class.

“I am the [Gay-Straight Alliance] faculty advisor. I love gay people – all the LGBTQIA+ mother—kers,” Kinyon declared. “If you don’t like, it get out. If I hear you say a damn word against any of them, I will open a can, and I will make your life a living hell. And they know it. If you give shiz to any LGBTQ kid in the school, I will hear about it and you will be in trouble!”

Alpine School District (ASD) officials immediately placed Kinyon on leave and opened an investigation after they became aware of the video, KSTU reported.

“This behavior is inappropriate, not reflective of the professional conduct and decorum we expect of our teachers, and will not be tolerated,” ASD told the news outlet.

By the end of Wednesday, Kinyon was no longer working for the school district.

“Alpine School District has concluded our investigation of the incident that [occurred] on August 17, 2021 at Lehi High School,” ASD said in a statement to KSTU. “Although the details of a personnel investigation are confidential, the teacher involved is no longer an employee of Alpine School District.”

It is unclear if Kinyon resigned or if she was fired.

Judy Storms, the mother of one of Kinyon’s former students, said she was “deeply disturbed” when she watched the video, FOX News reported.

“We’re finding out this a pattern by the teacher and if this is a pattern and people have complained over the years, why has something not been done?” Storms said. “An adult bullying a minor — that’s illegal…”
