Ridgely, MD – A 29-year-old teacher was arrested March 6 for sexual abuse of a 17-year-old male.
The Maryland State Police said Brittney Lyles was arrested and charged with sexual offenses involving a teenager after an investigation.
The Maryland State Police said the alleged sexual offenses happened in February of 2020. The investigation was started on March 4.
Lyles was a teacher with the Kent County Alternative School Program when the incidents occurred.
Police believe that Lyles picked up the victim in her vehicle at a location that was off school property and then took him to another location.
WMDT reported that the former teacher met with the 17-year-old male on more than one occasion when she sexually abused him and they smoked marijuana.
Police found a video of Lyles and the teenager having sex on the teenager’s phone. That led to Lyles being arrested.
Police also found a photo of Lyles in the shower that she had sent to the victim, according to WMDT.
None of the incidents happened on school property, according to the state police.
The Kent County Alternative School Program director identified Lyles as the person in the video. Lyles was fired from her teaching job at the Kent County Alternative School on March 2, according to WMDT.
Lyles was charged with two counts of fourth-degree sex offense, sex abuse of a minor, contributing to certain conditions of a child and other sexual offenses, according to the Maryland State Police.
She is being held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center.
