HollyMatkinGoodyear, AZ – A sixth-grade schoolteacher, who has been accused of repeatedly raping one of her 13-year-old male students, also performed oral sex on him in a classroom and in her car, according to court documents.
Brittany Zamora, 27, allegedly had sex with the student on three occasions between Feb. 1 and Mar. 8, and also traded nude photographs with the boy, the New York Post reported.
Zamora, a wife and trusted “teacher of the year,” was one of the most requested teachers at Las Brisas Academy Elementary School, KSAZ reported.
The boy said the series of sexual contacts between him and Zamora began when she started “flirting” with him in a classroom chat group, according to the New York Post.
The teacher then sent the boy a nude photo of herself, and a second picture that showed her wearing lingerie. The teen also sent naked pictures of himself to Zamora, he told police.
A second male student said that he also received nude photos from the teacher, and told police he had witnessed Zamora and the other boy having sex.
The victim’s parents became aware of the relationship after a cellphone monitoring application they had installed on his phone alerted them to the presence of sexually suggestive conversations.
“If I could quit my job and [have sex with] you all day long, I would,” Zamora texted to the boy, according to the Arizona Republic.
In one conversation, the teen told the teacher that he wanted to have sex with her again.
“I know baby!” Zamora responded. “I want you every day with no time limit.”
The boy’s parents contacted the school’s principal, and screenshots of the text messages were forwarded to police, Liberty School District interim Superintendent Dr. Richard Rundhaug told KSAZ.
The teen’s father told investigators that Zamora’s husband contacted him by phone, and pleaded with him not to contact the police, the Arizona Republic reported.
He said that his wife had “made a big mistake, but that she loved the kids,” the victim’s father told investigators. Zamora’s husband also asked him to “meet up” with him to “settle this,” at which point the boy’s father hung up on him.
Zamora, who was arrested on Thursday, has been charged with four counts of sexual conduct with a minor, five counts of sexual conduct with a minor, two counts of child molestation, and one count of obscene material transmittal.
“[I’d] love to go home, to be released,” she said during her initial court appearance, according to the Arizona Republic. “I’d love to go home to my husband.”
Zamora had worked at Las Brisas Academy for one year, according to KSAZ.
She was fired on Friday, Rundhaug said, according to the New York Post.
“This incident has been reported to the Arizona State Board of Education so they can make a determination regarding the teacher’s certification,” Rundhaug added.
Zamora’s bond was set at $250,000, and her next court appearance has been scheduled for Mar. 29.
