Nashville, TN – Grammy Award-winning artist Michelle Branch was arrested on Thursday after Nashville police responded to her home for a report of a domestic disturbance.
The incident occurred less than 24 hours after Branch, 39, confirmed in a statement to People that she and her husband of three years, Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney, were ending their marriage, WZTV reported.
“To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” Branch told People on Aug. 10. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. With such small children, I ask for privacy and kindness.”
Branch also issued a since-deleted tweet that night accusing her 42-year-old husband of cheating on her while she was at home with the couple’s six-month-old infant, People reported.

Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) officers responded to the couple’s Forest Hills home at approximately 2:08 a.m. on Aug. 11 after receiving a report of a domestic disturbance, WZTV reported.
Carney, who did not have any visible injuries, allegedly told the officers his wife had slapped him.
Investigators said the singer-songwriter told them she and her husband had been having marital problems and that they were arguing, WZTV reported.
The argument escalated to the point that Branch slapped him once or twice, she allegedly admitted to police.
Branch was arrested without incident and was charged with domestic assault, WZTV reported.
Her bail was set at $1,000, according to TMZ.
The couple has two children, ages four years and six months, WZTV reported.
Branch also has a 17-year-old daughter from her first marriage.
Carney and Branch were married in April of 2019 at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans, People reported.
