OfficerBluePico Rivera, CA – El Rancho High School teacher Gregory Salcido, who is also a city councilman, was recorded by a student while going on an anti-military rant.
Kimberlie Flauto posted a video of the incident to Facebook on Friday, with the following message:
Help me make this go viral. My friends son was sporting his marine sweater while this liberal douche teacher rants about the military. The school is called El rancho high school in the city of pico rivera california. The teacher’s name is MR. Salcido.

The video is difficult to hear at times, but in the video, Salcido can be heard saying, “Think about the people you know who are over there. Your freakin’ stupid Uncle Louie or whatever. They’re dumbsh***s. They’re not high-level bankers. They’re not academic people. They’re not intellectual people. They’re the freakin’ lowest of the low.”
He went on about how the United States doesn’t have a good military because it can’t beat “people in robes” or the Vietnamese who were “throwing rice at us,” and the only reason we won World War 2 was because we had a bomb.
The student who recorded the video wished to remain anonymous, but said that he made the recording during a Jan. 19 history class taught by Salcido.
The student told The OC Register that his father and two uncles are Marine veterans who fought in Afghanistan, Desert Storm, and Vietnam.
“It was so disrespectful to my dad and my uncles and all veterans and those still in the military,” he told OC Register.
This latest incident comes after Salcido was accused of assaulting a student in 2012.
“Mr. Salcido, with his open hand, smacked the back of my son’s head, and then shouted, `Get the (expletive) out of my class,”‘ a mother told Los Angeles Daily News at the time.
“I smacked him, but not with any intent to do harm. I just told him to wake up.” Salcido told Los Angeles Daily News at the time. “He was two feet away from me. I wanted to get his attention.”
Many states allow teachers to legally smack students as discipline, but it’s specifically prohibited in California. It’s not clear why Salcido was never charged.
In 2010, while Salcido was mayor, he was placed on administrative leave at the high school after being accused of making “inappropriate comments about race,” insulting students and parents, and telling a student, “shut up Kelly before I kill you.” Salcido said that his comment was humorous, according to Whittier Daily News.
In response to the latest anti-veteran rant, Salcido has only made a statement on Facebook saying, “The Salcido 3 just got out of an excellent musical, ‘The Band’s Arrival’. I turned my phone back on to unexpectedly see a storm. I don’t think it’s wise for me to make any specific comments, but I want my friends, family, and students to know we are fine and we respect the rights of free expression for all individuals.”
El Rancho Unified School District Superintendent Karling Aguilera-Fort told OC Register that they can confirm that the incident happened and that they will be investigating.
“We cannot expose the disciplinary measures because it is a personnel matter, but there will be disciplinary measures taken,” Aguilera-Fort told OC Register.
She did not state if Salcido would be right back in the classroom after his stern talking-to.
