AndrewBlakeSpring, TX – A 17-year-old girl was arrested after she planned a friend’s carjacking and then pretended to be the victim, police said.
Susan Mize was arrested on one count of aggravated robbery and booked to the county jail. She was released after posting $75,000 bond, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Deputies were called at 11:30 p.m. Friday after Preston Barry, 20, reported that he and his friend Mize had been robbed at gunpoint.
Barry told the police that Mize had told him he could make $150 by driving some of her other friends to Houston. Barry and Mize then drove to pick up a 16-year-old boy.
As they waited, a 15-year-old boy in a mask with a handgun walked up to Barry who was on the driver’s side of the car. The 15-year-old boy told Barry to get into the backseat where the 16-year-old pulled a knife on him and then tied Barry up with his shoelaces.
The two teenage boys then beat Barry while taking money out of his wallet. The police said the teenage boys threatened Barry with the gun and knife.
The teens then drove Barry’s car to a nearby grocery store, and the 16-year-old grabbed Barry and made him withdraw cash from an ATM.
Barry said he was tied up again and the two teenage attackers drove Mize home and dropped her off. Police said Mize didn’t call 911 to report what happened.
Barry was able to escape when he told the teens he had more money at his house, but instead ran inside his home, locked the door, and had his family call police.
Deputies located Barry’s car at a park and the suspects ran off into a wooded area.
Police found a kitchen knife and a BB gun in the car.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies questioned Mize who eventually admitted that she helped set up the robbery. Mize said she thought Barry was “an easy target.”
The unnamed 16-year-old boy was located, arrested, and taken to a detention center and faces a charge of aggravated robbery.
Authorities are obtaining a warrant for the arrest of the unnamed 15-year-old boy.
