Holly MatkinWellston, OK – The wife of the Wellston police chief has been arrested on multiple charges stemming from allegations she sexually abused a 15-year-old boy while she was working as a substitute teacher.
Emma Delaney Hancock, 26, was employed by Wellston Public Schools as a substitute teacher when the alleged assaults occurred, FOX News reported.
Hancock is the wife of Wellston Police Chief Alfred Hancock and the daughter of Wellston’s mayor, according to KWTV.
According to court documents, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) was notified about an alleged sexual relationship between Hancock and the 15-year-old student last fall and requested the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OBI) in November, KOKH reported.
Investigators were told Hancock had allegedly sent nude photos to one of her 15-year-old male students, according to FOX News.
The boy allegedly told police he began interacting with his substitute teacher on Oct. 6, 2022, when he entered his number into her phone so she could send him a class assignment.
He claimed that later that night, Hancock sent him a friend request on Snapchat, which he accepted, FOX News reported.
The teen said they started out talking but eventually began sending nude videos and photos, according to investigators.
He also allegedly told police he visited Hancock’s classroom on his lunch break on two occasions, during which they would hide in pantries and closets while she touched and kissed him, FOX News reported.
Hancock would let him use her vape pen, he added.
According to court documents, the boy told a friend about what was going on between him and Hancock, FOX News reported.
When the friend asked the substitute teacher about the boy’s claims, she allegedly denied anything had happened, according to investigators.
The victim’s friend said Hancock ultimately changed her story but said they wouldn’t get caught so it wouldn’t amount to anything, FOX News reported.
Investigators said they found videos tying back to the allegations when they searched Hancock’s cellphone.
The affidavit further alleged Hancock had shown two other students in her classroom a series of photos of her putting her mouth on an item she said was an adult toy, KWTV reported.
Wellston Public Schools said they removed Hancock from the substitute call list immediately after learning of the allegations against her last November, according to KOKH.
Hancock has been charged with two counts of soliciting sexual conduct or communication with a minor by use of technology and obscene or indecent writings, pictures, and two counts of lewd or indecent proposals or acts to a child under the age of 16, KWTV reported.
She appeared in court on April 13 and subsequently turned herself in at the jail, where she was released on a $50,000 bond.
