One Killed, Seven More Wounded At Wichita Nightclub

Wichita, KS – A man who was kicked out of a Wichita bar just after midnight returned with a gun and opened fire from the sidewalk, killing one person and wounding seven others.

Police said that incident began at about 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 when the suspect got into a fight at the Enigma Club & Lounge in the 300-block of North Mosley, KWCH reported.

Wichita Police Department Captain Wendell Nicholson said the man was removed from the bar because of an “unknown disturbance,” NBC News reported.

The suspect – whom witnesses said was in his 20s – returned a few minutes later and opened fire from the outside of the club, KMBC reported.

Officers said that the gunman shot eight people inside the club from the sidewalk outside.

One person was killed, two others had life threatening injuries, KMBC reported.

Five others were hospitalized for treatment of their gunshot wounds.

Three of those people sustained serious injuries and two had minor injuries, KWCH reported.

Police said the gunman fled the area in a vehicle and they were still working to identify him, KMBC reported.

Officials have not released the name of the person who was killed but said it was a 30-year-old man, NBC News reported.

Police have not yet identified the gunman, nor have they released any description other than that the shooter was believed to be about five-feet-nine-inches tall and in his 20s, KWCH reported.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Wichita Police or Crimestoppers at (316) 267-2111.
