Office Worker Guns Down Active Shooter w/Video Of Police Response

Norman police released bodycam footage and audio of 911 calls from the "active shooter" incident on Wednesday.

Norman, OK – Police have released bodycam video footage and 911-call audio from an “active shooter” scene at a business on Wednesday (video below).

William Ray Adams, 55, stormed into his recently-estranged wife’s office at Bergey WindPower Co. at about 2:30 pm on Jan. 10, and shot her office manager, Collette Wind.

Adams was wearing a gas mask, and carrying a shotgun, and looking to take his wife with him, according to The Oklahoman.

Numerous previously unreleased details became known with the release of the 911 call from his wife, Lisa.

“He’s on the floor, he’s been shot … One of my co-workers picked up the gun and shot him … My name is Lisa Adams. It’s my husband that shot them,” his wife told the dispatcher, gasping for breath.

“He came into my office with a mask on, and a shotgun and he pointed it at me … and then he turned it on Collette, my office manager, and he shot her in the arm,” Lisa Adams told 911.

“We need two ambulances,” she said in the recording.

She explained to the dispatcher how her husband had been disarmed.

“He laid it on the desk and started to, was trying to pull me out the door with him. And my employee pulled the gun away from him and shot him,” Lisa Adams said.

Then she gave them further insight into what had precipitated the entire situation.

“I left him two weeks ago because he was acting crazy. And I got the cops to come over to the house but they wouldn’t do anything,” Lisa Adams explained to the 911 dispatcher.

Police said that multiple 911 calls came in at the same time. They released audio from four of them.

On another call, police were updated as the shooter was disarmed.

“Wait. Wait. Our guy has the gun now,” the caller told the dispatcher.

“Okay. Someone has taken the shotgun from the shooter?” the dispatcher asked.

“Yes. Yes and we’ve got a handgun that’s been taken away from him as well and he’s on the ground.

Police were in the area of the business at the time of the first shooting, and responded to the scene quickly.

Bodycam footage showed officers entering through the front door of the business to find the shooter on his back on the floor of the lobby.

Adams was taken into custody by police without incident, and transported to the hospital. He remained hospitalized in good condition on Thursday.

Upon his release from the hospital, he’ll be taken to the Cleveland County jail and charged with attempted kidnapping, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, feloniously pointing a firearm, possessing a firearm while in the commission of a felony, and assault while masked, Norman police spokeswoman Sarah Jensen told The Oklahoman.

Wind, 32, who was shot in the arm, was taken to the hospital where she remained in “fair condition” on Thursday, according to KOKH.
