New York, NY – The New York police officer who recently married county music star Miranda Lambert has been pulled from patrol duty due to flocking paparazzi.
Lambert, 35, made the bombshell announcement that she and 27-year-old New York Police Officer Brendan McLoughlin got married in January in a social media post.
“In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news,” Lambert wrote on Saturday. “I met the love of my life. And we got hitched! My heart is full. Thank you Brendan Mcloughlin for loving me for….me. #theone.”
Officer McLoughlin, who generally patrolled Times Square on foot prior to his nuptials, has been hounded by the media since news of his recent marriage broke, TMZ reported.
“It would be hard to do his job with photographers and reporters hounding him,” one source told the New York Post.
Fans seeking autographs have also been an issue, the source added.
As a result, Officer McLoughlin has been reassigned as a driver for higher-ranking members of the NYPD Midtown South Precinct.
Sources insisted that the change in duty was not a punishment, and that Officer McLoughlin still has the same authority that he had during his previous assignment, the New York Post reported.
According to The Mercury News, Officer McLoughlin plans to serve at least one more year with the NYPD.
Lambert currently resides on her 400-acre estate in Nashville, while Officer McLoughlin lives in New York.
Lambert’s news shocked her fans, who had no idea that Lambert was even in a relationship, let alone that she had married the New York Police Department (NYPD) officer.
Officer McLoughlin is also the father of a 3-month-old baby from a previous relationship – making Lambert a new stepmother, People reported.
Prior to his law enforcement career, he worked as a male model.
The couple met at ABC’s Midtown studios on Nov. 2, 2018, after the two-time Grammy winner performed on “Good Morning America,” according to the New York Post.
Officer McLoughlin was working a security detail outside the building.
Lambert was previously married to country music star Blake Shelton, but their four-year marriage ended in divorce in 2015, Entertainment Tonight reported.
After dating Turnpike Troubadours’ singer Evan Felker for six months, Lambert announced in August of 2018 that she was “happily single,” The Tennessean reported.
