NYC Hospital Exec Says Trump Supporters Should Give Up Their Ventilators

Hospital exec fired after Facebook post said Trump supporters should give up their ventilators

Buffalo, NY – An executive at a hospital was fired after she posted on Facebook that Trump supporters “need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else … and not go to the hospital.”

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has fired Laura Krolczyk, the hospital’s vice president for external affairs, after initially putting her on administrative leave, according to the Buffalo News.

The hospital fired Krolczyk after an investigation into a series of Facebook posts she made criticizing President Donald Trump over his response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Hauptman Woodward Medical Research Institute has also placed Lisa LaTrovato, the director of development, on leave for her comments on Facebook on the same thread, according to the Buffalo News.

Krolczyk and LaTrovato both worked for Democratic politicians before taking their jobs at the medical and research organizations, the Buffalo News reported.

Krolczyk shared a news article on Facebook about Trump’s administration reluctance to pay $1 billion to companies for ventilator production.

As she shared the article, Krolczyk wrote, “Vote Trump.”

The Buffalo News reported the Facebook exchange:

LaTrovato posted: “But will waste more than that on a wall and space force.”

Krolczyk replied: “Trump supporters need to pledge to give up their ventilators for someone else … and not go to the hospital.”

LaTrovato posted: “I think they should be the only ones in packed churches on Sunday.”

Krolczyk replied: “They should barricade themselves in there and ride this out.”

LaTrovato replied: “Yup.”

The Buffalo News reported another exchanged on that thread.

Another person on Facebook wrote: “Wow, just wow, so your saying we decide who lives and dies based on political views? Great plan.”

Krolczyk responded by posting: “That’s literally what he’s saying. Take your ‘wow’ and comprehend what your hero is saying. Your hero is saying YOU don’t need a ventilator. So don’t take one.”

Krolczyk then replied: “Also don’t cash your stimulus check. It’s all a hoax. Chew some ibuprofen and be on with your day.”

Twitter user Michael Caputo posted the Facebook exchange on his account.

Caputo then tweeted to the hospital and research facility, “Is it your public health policy to assure Trump voters are infected with COVID? Why are your senior executives advocating this sick strategy online? For the love of God, you both exist to fight disease!”

Caputo then encouraged his followers to call the two executives and posted phone numbers for each person.
