AndrewBlakeSanta Clara, CA – San Francisco 49ers’ Reuben Foster has now been charged with three felonies, including domestic violence, after he was accused of attacking his live-in girlfriend, and trying to prevent her from calling for help from a call back in February.
Police received a call about a domestic disturbance at Foster’s residence in Los Gatos on Feb. 11.
When police arrived, they interviewed Foster and his girlfriend, ESPN reported.
Police said Foster attacked his girlfriend by dragging her by the hair and throwing her out of the house. He also punched her eight to 10 times in the head, and the blows ruptured her eardrum.
Foster was charged with domestic violence with a claim he inflicted great bodily injury. He was also charged with forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime.
When police searched Foster’s home, they found he had a SIG516 rifle and an illegal-in-California “large-capacity magazine.” ESPN reported that both the weapon and the magazine were illegal to possess in California.
Foster was charged with possession of an assault weapon and possessing a large-capacity weapon magazine, according to ESPN.
Bail was set at $75,000, and Foster posted it at the time of his arrest.
The court ordered that Foster could not have any contact with his live-in girlfriend.
If convicted, Foster could be sentenced to more than 11 years in prison.
Foster was one of eight San Francisco players who took a knee during the national anthem last year, according to the Sacramento Bee.
The National Football League said it was monitoring the situation.
Foster was a first-round draft pick of the 49ers in the 2017 draft, after playing at the University of Alabama. Foster signed a four-year, $9 million contract with a $4.7 million signing bonus with the San Francisco team.
