National Guard Being Called In For Rioting In Salt Lake City

Protests turned into rioting in Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City, UT – As rioting continues across major U.S. cities, Utah Governor Gary Herbert has called in the National Guard for rioting in Salt Lake City.

“We condemn violence and looting,” Governor Herbert tweeted. “I have activated the National Guard to help control the escalating situation in downtown Salt Lake City. I once again call on all who are protesting to do so peacefully. “

Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall has called for an 8 p.m. curfew as people started torching police cars.

Riots spread to more cities Saturday night with rioting reported in over a dozen major U.S. cities before nightfall.
