Two police officers and a civilian have been shot in an ongoing, active-shooter scene in a Walmart in Arkansas.

Forrest City, AR – Two police officers and a civilian have been shot in what officials are calling an “active shooter” situation at a Walmart in Forrest City in eastern Arkansas.

Forrest City police confirmed there is an active shooter inside the Walmart located in the 200-block of Deaderick Road, WHBQ reported.

Witnesses told KATV that the shooting began at about 10:30 a.m. toward the back of the store.

One witness said she heard 12 gunshots.

KATV reported that three people had been shot, and police have confirmed that two of the wounded are police officers.

There is no information as to the nature of the officers’ or civilian’s injuries or their conditions.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those who were shot.

Forrest City Police Dispatcher Chastity Boyd confirmed that three people had been shot but told the Associated Press she had no information about whether a suspect had been detained.

Forrest City police said that situation was still active and the store had been locked down, WMC reported.

Arkansas State Police have also responded to the scene.

Kim Bery, who works at the auto parts store across the street from the Walmart, told the Associated Press that she was afraid.

Bery said there was a lot of police activity and it appeared the Walmart employees were being evacuated into the parking lot of the store.

Forrest City is located about 85 miles east of Little Rock.

UPDATE: Forrest City Police Chief Deon Lee said that suspect had been fatally shot inside the store.

Chief Lee said one of the wounded Forrest City police officer was conscious and talking when he was transported to Forrest City Medical Center, WMC reported.

The chief didn’t have any information on the second wounded officer who was transported to Regional One.

He said he was on his way to see that officer and find out what was going on.

WMC reported that the suspect was a man and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
