Little Rock, AR – Little Rock police investigators said an armed mother protected her family from a violent carjacker on Memorial Day weekend after he tried to carjack them in a parking garage.
Police said the incident occurred on May 29 on the parking deck at River Market while a family was loading a wagon onto the top of their vehicle, WREG reported.
Investigators said that the suspect approached the victim from behind as he strapped the cargo to his vehicle and hit him several times.
Then the suspect jumped into the front seat of his victim’s vehicle and attack the female passenger in the front seat.
The police report said the suspect immediately hit the passenger in the face, WREG reported.
The passenger told police that she pulled out her pistol and shot in the direction of the violent carjacker attacking her multiple times, according to the police report.
The report said that the alleged carjacker was shot in the head and neck area, WREG reported.
The woman told police she called 911 the moment her attacker hit the ground.
There were also two children in the car when the suspect jumped inside it and attacked the female passenger, WREG reported.
The police report said the family was in town visiting Little Rock from their home in Byhalia, Mississippi.
Little Rock police officers responded to the scene and found a male suspect suffering from gunshot wounds on the parking deck.
The police report said the officers provided First Aid to the wounded suspect until the ambulance arrived to transport him to the hospital after determining that all of his victims were going to be alright, WREG reported.
Little Rock police officials have not yet released the name of the suspect, nor details of his medical condition, but said he remained hospitalized on May 31.
