Mom Charged With Attempted Murder After Running Over Girls She Says Beat Up Her Daughter

Las Vegas, NV – A mother has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after she intentionally ran over two high school girls with whom her daughter had been fighting on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred the afternoon of March 28 at Palo Verde Drive and Burkholder Boulevard near Basic High School, KLAS reported.

Police said that 36-year-old Fatima Mitchell told officers that her daughter had been jumped by several girls at school earlier that day.

The police report said that Mitchell told officers she was frustrated because the school wouldn’t give her any information about the attack on her daughter, KLAS reported.

So she went looking for the girls who had fought with her daughter, according to police.

“She then went back to the area of Basic High School and saw a group of girls and asked them ‘what’s up, who wants it?'” the report read. “She said she then ‘mashed the gas.'”

When Mitchell found the girls, the police report said she intentionally drove her Chevrolet Tahoe at them and tried to run them over, KLAS reported.

“If anyone messes with my kids all I know is to take them out,” she told police afterwards, according to the report.

Police asked Mitchell what she meant by “take them out” and she replied “obviously they must want to die,” KLAS reported.

Mitchell drove her Chevy Tahoe up onto a curb and hit a tree and a neighborhood sign before she struck the girls, which likely protected her victims from more serious injuries, according to the police report.

Both injured girls were transported to the hospital for treatment, KLAS reported.

Police said one of the girls sustained a fractured collarbone and the other had suspected broken bones but was still being evaluated by doctors when the report was written.

Clark County School District (CCSD) police stopped Mitchell after witnesses reported she was “trying to hit and kill people,” KLAS reported.

Officers said they found Mitchell’s Tahoe with damage on the front bumper and a tree branch stuck in the hood.

A CCSD police officer said his bodycam captured Mitchell uttering something like “I got all the little homies,” KLAS reported.

Mitchell’s daughter said that she mentioned the fight to her mother and her mother got a certain look in her eyes, according to the police report.

She told police she thought her mother had run the girls over to protect her, KLAS reported.

A CCSD police officer alleged in the police report that Mitchell had announced that she intentionally ran over the children and would have struck more if she could have.

The arrest report said that Mitchell at first declined to be interviewed by Henderson police but then started talking to “giver her side of the story” as she was being booked into the Henderson Detention Center.

Her arraignment has been scheduled for Thursday, KLAS reported.

Jail records showed Mitchell was being held without bail until that her hearing.
