Man At Bar Fatally Shoots Multiple Victims In Seemingly Random Attack

Police identified the gunman who opened fire inside a Globe bar on Sunday night, killing two and wounding two more.

Globe, AZ – A gunman fatally shot two people, and critically wounded two more, in an Arizona bar on Sunday night.

Witnesses told police that it was a quiet night inside Jammerz bar, near Ash Street and Hackney Avenue in Globe, almost 90 miles outside of Phoenix, according to KTVK.

The gunman, identified by police as 22-year-old Sterling Randall Hunt, had spent the evening hanging out with his future victims and playing pool, Globe Police Chief Dale Walters told reporters at a press conference on Monday afternoon.

Several people went outside to smoke a cigarette at about 11:30 p.m., and Hunt followed them and opened fire with a handgun.

Four people were shot, KTVK reported.

KSAZ reported that police officers responded to the bar within one minute of the shooting.

Police said two of the victims – a 22-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman – were pronounced dead at the scene, according to KTVK.

Two 22-year-old women were badly wounded and airlifted to a Phoenix-area hospital for treatment, KTVK reported.

The victim’s names had not yet been released upon request of their families.

Police arrested Hunt on the Carlos Apache Indian Reservation shortly after the shootings, Chief Walters said.

KSAZ reported that police said they did not believe there were any other suspects involved.

Police said the shootings appeared to be a random act of violence, and not targeted.

“This is a one-time incident; we’re unaware of any ongoing threats,” Chief Walters said. “This is a horrible tragedy.”

The Associated Press reported that all of the victims were from the Globe area, and three of them were friends.

It was not clear whether the shooter had previously known any of his victims.

Chief Walter said investigators had not yet discovered a motive for the shooting spree.

Hunt was in custody on the Carlos Apache Indian Reservation, according to the Globe Police Department.
