Tom GantertNashville, TN – A father is accused of looting in the Nashville area hit by a tornado while his two young children were in the backseat of his vehicle.
Joshua Davis, 34, was charged with disorderly conduct, child endangerment, criminal impersonation, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, controlled substance possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to WZTV.
Metro Police were on patrol on March 8 in East Nashville when they saw Davis in a black Chevy pick-up track at 10:15 p.m.
Davis was in the truck in an area hit by a tornado and the neighborhood was without electricity and had debris in the road.
There were buildings and homes torn apart in the area and a young couple had died, according to WZTV.
Davis and another person in the car were seen stopping at several different locations around the area, which the police found to be suspicious, WZTV reported.
Police contacted them, and they told police that they didn’t live in that area but were driving around collecting items. A mattress was found in the truck bed with other items, according to WZTV.
“These actions served no legal purpose and were in dangerous proximity to a natural disaster area, creating a hazardous condition for those with a legitimate reason to be there,” Metro Police said, according to WZTV.
Davis gave police fake social security numbers twice when he was questioned, according to WSMV.
Police eventually found Davis’ license, according to WZTV.
Davis, who was from Michigan, told police he gave fake social security numbers because he thought there might be a warrant out for his arrest, according to WSMV.
Police also found 2.6 grams of crystal meth and marijuana as well as a digital scale with white residue on it, WZTV reported.
Two young children were in the backseat of the truck.
Davis was being held in jail on a $19,500 bond, according to WZTV.
