SandyMaloneNew York City – Another woman announced she’d been raped by notorious Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein on Tuesday, and provided the horrifying details.
More than 50 women have come forward accusing Weinstein of sexual abuse since The New York Times published an investigative column on October 5th, exposing three decades of sexual harassment complaints against the award-winning film mogul.
Seven women have accused Weinstein of rape, including former production assistant Mimi Haleyi, who yesterday told what many consider to be one of the worst stories yet about the co-owner of the legendary Weinstein Company.
“He then orally forced himself on me while I was on my period. He even pulled my tampon out. I was mortified,” Haleyi told a packed press conference, with her publicity-hound attorney Gloria Allred by her side.
Haleyi explained that she first met Weinstein in Cannes in 2004, where he invited her back to his hotel room.
Hoping to get a job on one of his television productions, Haleyi visited the producer in his room, where he repeatedly asked her for a massage.
She said she declined, and left crying and humiliated.
But Weinstein did get her a job later, and she accepted it, working as a production assistant on an unidentified television show.
She said that after that gig, she met him once at the Mercer Hotel, where he behaved like “a total gentleman.”
Haleyi later ran into him at the Weinstein Company offices when she was meeting with another producer.
She said Weinstein loaned her his copy of “Tender is the Night,” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and had his assistant give her a ride home.
After that, Weinstein showed up uninvited at her East Village apartment twice, and aggressively invited her to join him on a trip to Paris.
“I finally said, ‘I’m not coming to Paris with you and I hear you have a terrible reputation with women.’ That’s when he backed off,” Haleyi told reporters at her press conference.
Despite his uncomfortable advances, the aspiring production assistant went to Weinstein’s loft for a meeting alone with him, after he returned from Paris.
“He wouldn’t take no for an answer and backed me into a room which was not lit, but looked like a kids’ bedroom with kids’ drawings on the walls,” Haleyi said.
“He held me down on the bed, I tried to get him off me and kept asking him to stop but it was impossible. He was extremely persistent and physically overpowering.”
She said he ripped out her tampon, performed oral sex on her, and then asked her “don’t you feel we’re so much closer to each other now?”
Haleyi said she told him “no.”
Her attorney Allred appeared to use the press conference as an opportunity to tee up settlements for all of her clients who claimed to have been raped and assaulted by Weinstein.
“Vague apologies are not enough. It is time for him to take meaningful action,” Allred said.
Weinstein is allegedly in a rehab facility at this time, although details are sketchy.
Interestingly, the always fame-seeking Allred’s daughter, Lisa Bloom, was representing Weinstein when his entire life blew up in early October of this year.
She also had a deal to develop a TV series with Weinstein’s production company based on her book about the Trayvon Martin case, according to Vanity Fair.
Critics were fast to point out that Bloom’s representation of Weinstein appeared hypocritical, since she has represented so many women who claimed to have been wronged by men.
Even her mother criticized Bloom’s representation of the alleged Hollywood predator, saying she would have declined joining Weinstein’s legal team because “I do not represent individuals accused of sex harassment.”
But Bloom is no stranger to representing unsavory clients.
Recently, she represented Kathy Griffin after her disgusting beheading photo of President Trump got her into hot water with the press and the US Secret Service.
Bloom eventually resigned her representation of Weinstein after tons of negative press threatened her professional reputation.
