HollyMatkinVacaville, CA – Actor Chris Pratt showed his support for law enforcement officers and their families on Saturday when he made a surprise appearance at an event organized to help raise money for cops whose children are battling cancer.
The “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” star is the brother of Solano County Sheriff’s Deputy Daniel “Cully” Pratt, who was instrumental in helping to pull off the event, the Vacaville Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Those in attendance purchased tickets to watch the new Jurassic Park movie at the Vacaville Brenden Theater, which also included a charity auction. The effort was a collaboration between local law enforcement agencies and the Brenden Theater’s Bruce Simpson, the department said.
The agency noted that the “strong, young children” supported by the event had been through “unthinkable challenges” in their lives.
“The opportunity to help raise money for their families is a priceless event in of itself,” the department said.
But when the movie’s leading man walked in, the excitement really amped up.
“Little did anyone know that the star of the movie Chris Pratt would surprise everyone and show up to participate with the charity auction and even stay to watch the movie!” the post read. “The room was filled with both shock and laughter for the entire event.”
“Most importantly, those who truly needed this fun day got some time to enjoy the festivities alongside their families,” the police department said.
In addition to his latest film, Pratt also played the role of Star-Lord in two “Guardians of The Galaxy” films, co-starred in the remake of “The Magnificent Seven,” and was the voice of Emmet in “The Lego Movie,” among others.
