Homeowner Kills Intruder Who Broke Into Home, Authorities Say It Was Self-Defense

Lynn Haven, FL – A Florida man fatally shot an intruder who broke into his home early Tuesday morning, according to investigators.

The incident occurred at a residence located in the 1400-block of North Bay Drive in the College Point area of the city at approximately 6 a.m. on Jan. 10, WMBB reported.

Deputies responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call about “a suspicious person found within a residential home,” the Bay County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said in a press release.

“A [female] resident of the home discovered the stranger, a male, within the home,” the sheriff’s office said.

When woman alerted her husband about the intruder, he grabbed his firearm and went to confront the suspect, investigators told WMBB.

“[The male homeowner] confronted the stranger and an altercation ensued,” the BCSO said. “The stranger was shot.”

Investigators later confirmed the suspect died of his wounds, WMBB reported.

The sheriff’s department identified the suspect as 23-year-old Aaron Mravic-Lollie.

Mravic-Lollie was pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.

Deputies said the couple and their child – all of whom were home at the time of the break in – are safe and did not suffer any physical injuries, WMBB reported.

“The BCSO is on scene and is conducting an investigation into the incident,” the sheriff’s office said in the press release. “There does not appear to be any other person involved and no danger to the other residents of the neighborhood from this shooting.”

No other details were immediately released.

Investigators had the residence blocked off with crime scene tape on Tuesday morning, WMBB reported.

They were also seen interviewing neighbors.

BCSO said the investigation into the fatal shooting was still ongoing but thus far it appeared that the homeowner had acted in self-defense, WMBB reported.

No charges have been filed in connection with the case.
