Hero Down: Wadley Police Officer Todd Forrest Killed

Metter, GA – Wadley Police Officer Lawrence Thomas Forrest III “Todd” was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Monday, January 23, 2017.


According to The Statesboro Herald, Officer Todd Forrest, 37, was on his way to attend mandatory police certification training about 6:40 AM at Ogeechee Technical College in Statesboro, Georgia. The crash occurred on Highway 121 near Canoochee Road.

The driver of the second vehicle, Alpeshkumaar Patel, 40, of Metter, was taken to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah with serious injuries. The Georgia State Patrol is conducting the investigation.

Wadley Police Officer Todd Forrest previously worked for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office before being hired by the Wadley Police Department. Hunter Oglesby, Georgia State Patrol Trooper, said that no further details were available at this time due to incomplete reports and the ongoing investigation.

Officer Todd Forrest’s funeral will be held on Saturday, January 28, at Louisville First Baptist Church. He was a 1998 graduate of Jefferson County High School. Officer Forrest is survived by two sons, Trevor and Isaiah, his fiancee and her children, and other family members.
