Brown County, KS – Sac and Fox Police Department Officer Kirby Robidoux was found dead in his patrol vehicle during his shift on Wednesday morning, according to the sheriff.
“Brown County dispatch became concerned when the officer failed to respond to a radio check,” Brown County Sheriff John Merchant told the Hiawatha World.
The dispatcher contacted the Iowa Tribal Police Department (ITPD), and asked for them to help locate the 43-year-old officer.
An ITPD officer located Officer Robidoux’s patrol vehicle parked near 330th Road at approximately 5:58 a.m., and found him deceased inside, the Salina Journal reported.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is handling the ongoing investigation.
“At this time, foul play is not suspected, but a full investigation is being conducted,” KBI Communications Director Melissa Underwood told the Salina Journal.
His cause of death was not immediately known, and an autopsy has been scheduled, Sheriff Merchant said.
“Kirby was a very dedicated officer who always had a kind word for everyone he met,” the sheriff said in a statement. “Our sympathies go out to the family of the officer, his department and the community he served.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Sac and Fox Police Department Officer Kirby Robidoux, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.
