Hero Down: Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Andrew Davidson Dies In Motorcycle Crash

Riverside, CA – Riverside County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) Deputy Andrew Davidson died in an off-duty motorcycle crash on April 24.

The 23-year-old deputy was riding a 2020 Yamaha motorcycle northbound in the #2 lane of Van Buren Boulevard between Garfield Street and California Avenue at approximately 8:39 a.m. when he collided with a 2007 Toyota Camry, the Riverside Police Department (RPD) Traffic Bureau said in a press release later that afternoon.

Deputy Davidson was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.

The motorcycle burst into flames, but bystanders were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

The 66-year-old driver of the Toyota was transported to a local hospital due to complaints of pain, according to the RPD.

No updates regarding his condition were immediately released.

Deputy Davidson was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

“Unfortunately, he was pronounced deceased a short time later,” the RPD said.

The RCSO confirmed the young deputy’s death in a press release on April 24.

“We are saddened to announce the death of Deputy Andrew Davidson, who died in an off-duty traffic accident this morning,” the sheriff’s office said. “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Deputy Andrew Davidson.”

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco said in a Facebook post that Deputy Davidson was on his way home from work when the deadly crash occurred.

Deputy Davidson joined the RCSO in March of 2022 and was assigned to the agency’s Perris Station.

“On behalf of the Perris Station, we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Deputy Andrew Davidson,” the RCSO Perris Station said in a Facebook post the following day. “Your law enforcement brothers and sisters are going to miss you!”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Riverside County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Andrew Davidson, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.
