Hero Down: Richwood Police K9 Klink Dies After Debilitating Back Injury

Richwood Police K9 Klink was carried into the veterinary clinic by his partner, Officer Eric Nicholson.

Marysville, OH – Richwood Police Department (RPD) K9 Klink was humanely euthanized on Monday due to herniated discs in his back that made it difficult for him to walk.

Friends, family members, and fellow law enforcement officers and K9s gathered outside the Woodside Vet Clinic to salute the ailing K9, the RPD said in a Facebook post.

Wrapped in a Thin Blue Line flag, 10-year-old K9 Klink made his “final walk” in the arms of his human partner, Richwood Police Officer Eric Nicholson.

K9 Klink was diagnosed with five herniated discs approximately nine months ago, and ultimately lost the use of his back legs, WBNS reported.

Treatment and therapy helped him to improve his mobility, but the outcome of his injuries was inevitable.

“The Richwood PD would like to thank everyone who came out today in support of K-9 Klink, Off. Eric Nicholson, the Nicholson family and the Richwood PD,” the department’s post read.

“[K9] Klink was a good boy and will be missed,” the agency wrote.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Richwood Police Department and Officer Nicholson in the loss of K9 Klink.
