Pueblo, CO – Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Deputy Jerry Bastian died unexpectedly on July 17 after suffering a stroke.
The PCSO confirmed the 58-year-old deputy’s sudden death in a Facebook post on Sunday.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of one of our brothers in blue, Patrol Deputy Jerry Bastian,” the department said. “Deputy Bastian passed away unexpectedly Saturday. We express our deepest sympathy to Deputy Bastian’s family, friends and all those who worked with him at the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies. Rest in peace Deputy Bastian.”
Deputy Bastian served his community as a law enforcement officer for many years, according to his obituary.
“All who knew Jerry would never wonder about his passion and love for his job,” the tribute read.
In addition to his dedication to serving others, Deputy Bastian was also an organ donor, his wife told KKTV.
“[He] couldn’t stop helping people if he tried,” she said.
Deputy Bastian leaves behind his wife, Tracy, as well as his four children and 11 grandchildren, according to his obituary.
He was laid to rest on Thursday.
