Hero Down: Plymouth County Sheriff’s Transportation Officer John Santos Dies Of Brain Aneurysm

Boston, MA – Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) Transportation Officer John Santos died on Dec. 28, 2022, after suffering a brain aneurysm.

The 25-year-old officer succumbed to his medical condition at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, according to his obituary.

The PCSD confirmed the young officer’s death in a tweet on Jan. 2.

“It is with great sadness we share the sudden passing of our friend and colleague, Transportation Officer John Santos,” the department said. “Officer Santos was also an active member of the US Air Force.”

Officer Santos served the PCSD for five years, according to a fundraising page established to help his family in the wake of their loss.

He was also about to join the Massachusetts State Police (MSP), the agency said in a Facebook post on Jan. 4.

The MSP said Officer Santos “would have been a member of the Massachusetts State Police 88th Recruit Training Troop.”

“He would have undoubtedly served a long and distinguished career with this department,” the state police added.

In addition to his law enforcement career, Officer Santos was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Qatar in 2019, according to his obituary.

He was promoted to the rank of staff sergeant in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, in 2021.

“He was incredibly passionate about his career in the military and gained brothers in arms along the way,” the tribute read. “John was a loyal and dedicated fiancé, son, brother and soon to be Father.”

Officer Santos leaves behind his expectant fiancé, Hannah, and their unborn son, Hayden.

He is also survived by his parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Officer Santos was laid to rest on Jan. 9.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Plymouth County Sheriff’s Department Transportation Officer John Santos, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.
