Hero Down: North Beaver Police Cpl. Wayne Ramsey Dies Unexpectedly

New Castle, PA – North Beaver Police Department (NBPD) Corporal Wayne Allen Ramsey died unexpectedly on Nov. 16.

Cpl. Ramsey was also actively serving as a Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputy when he passed away, the New Castle Police Department (NCPD) said in a Facebook post the following day.

The 50-year-old corporal died at UPMC Jameson Hospital, according to his obituary.

The exact cause of his death was not released.

Cpl. Ramsey completed his municipal police officers training at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, according to his obituary.

He served the NBPD for more than 15 years and had been working for the LCSO for over 12 years, the NCPD said.

“He was dedicated to police work his entire life,” his obituary read. “It was his calling.”

Cpl. Ramsey was a “warm and caring friend” who was known for his “infectious smile and laugh,” according to the tribute.

“Wayne will be missed by all who knew him,” his obituary read.

The North Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Department (NBTVFD) said in a Facebook post that the longtime corporal’s death has been a “tremendous loss” for the entire township.

“Corporal Ramsey was a very good hearted officer and liked by many of the people that knew him,” the NVTVFD said. “Our condolences are extended to all of his family, coworkers and friends. We will miss you ‘Wayno.’”

Cpl. Ramsey leaves behind his wife of 25 years, Susan, according to his obituary.

He is also survived by his aunt, three sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Cpl. Ramsey will be laid to rest on Nov. 27.
