Hero Down: Natchitoches PD Officer Brian Olliff Dies After Heat-Related Medical Emergency While On-Duty

Natchitoches, LA – Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) Officer Brian Olliff died in the line of duty on Saturday after suffering a heat-related medical emergency while working in the downtown district.

The 52-year-old officer’s exact cause of death has not been released.

Officer Olliff was also employed with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) at the time of his death, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.

“It is with saddened hearts that the Natchitoches Police Department announces the death of Officer Brian Olliff due to an unexpected medical event that occurred while working in the downtown district yesterday evening,” the NPD said in a press release.

Officer Olliff served his community for more than 20 years.

In addition to his work with the NPD and the NCSO, he previously worked for the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, according to the Officer Down Memorial Page.

“Please continue to keep his family and all that had the privilege of knowing Officer Brian Olliff in your thoughts and prayers,” the NPD said.

Officer Olliff leaves behind his wife and four sons, Natchitoches Mayor Ronnie Williams said in a press release on Tuesday.

“Officer Olliff was a loving husband and father of four young men. He was a superb officer who worked really hard whenever he was on the clock,” Williams said. “His untimely passing while in uniform will undoubtedly leave a vast hole at the Natchitoches Police Department.”

The city has lowered all flags to half-staff through Friday in honor of Officer Olliff’s life of service.

He will be laid to rest on July 22.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Natchitoches Police Department Officer Brian Olliff, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.
