Bradenton, FL – Manatee County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) Deputy Hubert Robinson died on May 20 after suffering an unexpected medical event, according to his department.
Deputy Robinson, 76, was off duty when the medical emergency occurred, the MCSO said in a press release two days later.
His exact cause of death was not released.
“We are saddened by the sudden passing of Deputy Hubert Robinson,” the sheriff’s office said. “Deputy Robinson dedicated more than 40 years of his life to the people of Manatee County…”
In addition to his time with the MCSO, Deputy Robinson also served with the Palmetto Police Department (PPD) and the Bradenton Police Department (BPD), the sheriff’s office noted.
“He will be greatly missed by all those who were privileged to know him. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers,” the MCSO said.
Deputy Robinson’s former coworker, Edward Glenn, said the longtime deputy was a wonderful person who always kept the community at the center of his focus.
“Extremely saddened to hear this,” Glenn wrote in a Facebook response to the MCSO’s announcement. “When Robbie came over to MCSO from BPD I had the privilege of supervising him in the Cops program. Great guy awesome community oriented person. He [will] surely be missed.”
Aundrea Britt said she knew Deputy Robinson nearly her whole life.
“He always had a smile and a kind word,” Britt wrote in a memorial tribute. “RIP my friend.”

“Senator Rubio and Mrs. Rubio send their prayers and condolences to the family and friends of Deputy Robinson, who offered so many years of faithful service to the #TampaBay region,” the tweet read. “Dep. Robinson’s life of service will leave a lasting impact on his community.”
