Liberal, KS – Liberal Police Department (LPD) Administrative Lieutenant Franka Post died on Aug. 9 due to natural causes.
The 41-year-old lieutenant’s exact cause of death was not released, KWCH reported.
She passed away at the Southwest Medical Center, according to her obituary.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of one of our own, Lt. Franka Post,” the LPD said in a Facebook post on Aug. 10. “Lt. Post will be missed by all of us. Please keep her family in your prayers.”
Lt. Post joined the LPD on May 18, 2008, according to her department.
“Her laugh was loud and contagious,” LPD Deputy Chief Chris Head told KWCH. “She had a beautiful smile. She had a great personality she would get along with anybody in the department.”
LPD Chief William Cutshall said Lt. Post motivated and inspired all those who knew her.
“Franka was instrumental in helping my family years ago with one of my daughters,” a memorial tribute on her online obituary page read. “I have never forgotten her help and will always appreciate it. I was very sorry to hear of her passing. My heart goes out to her family and friends.”
Lt. Post’s husband, Dustin, is also a fellow law enforcement officer, according to a fundraising page established to help her family in the wake of their loss.
The couple married in Colorado in June of 2015, according to Lt. Post’s obituary.
She also leaves behind her children, Kymper, Wylee, and Gunner, as well as her parents, siblings, grandmother, and in-laws.
Lt. Post was laid to rest on Monday.
