Hero Down: Fulton County Deputy Shakeema Brown Jackson Murdered In Double-Homicide

Covington, GA – Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Shakeema Brown Jackson died on Oct. 27 after being shot while off-duty at her home.

Police said the 28-year-old deputy and her brother, 30-year-old Levoy Brown, were both shot multiple times in an attack at Deputy Jackson’s house, WAGA reported.

Newton County sheriff’s deputies responded to the Windcrest Drive residence at approximately 10:30 p.m., WXIA reported.

Brown and Deputy Jackson both died as a result of their wounds.

Deputy Jackson’s husband, 28-year-old Jaquavia Jackson, was arrested on Oct. 29 and charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, WAGA reported.

A judge denied bond during Jackson’s initial court appearance, according to the news outlet.

The FCSO released a statement in the wake of Deputy Jackson’s murder saying she was a “treasured member” of the department, WXIA reported.

Deputy Jackson joined the sheriff’s office in 2018 as a detention officer and became a deputy sheriff just over a month ago.

“Deputy Jackson is remembered as eager to learn, and always had a positive disposition,” the FCSO said, according to WXIA. “Coworkers say she was bubbly, and, no matter how disrespectful inmates may have been, always greeted them with ‘good morning,’ earning their respect.”

She leaves behind her 17-month-old child, WSB reported.

“This is a heartbreaking loss for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office,” Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat said in his office’s statement, according to WXIA. “This is a hard time for the Sheriff’s Office, and we ask for your continued prayers.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Fulton County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Shakeema Brown Jackson, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.
