Hero Down: Detention Officer Kenneth Luckey Killed On Way To Work

A Dallas County detention officer was killed in a crash on his way to work.

Dallas, TX – A detention officer from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office died in a traffic crash on Wednesday night.

Detention Service Officer Kenneth Luckey was on his way to work when he was killed in the single-car accident

The incident occurred about 10:30 p.m. on Spur 408, near West Illinois Avenue in west Oak Cliff, according to WFAA.

Police said Officer Luckey’s vehicle was headed northbound when he lost control, hit a guardrail, went up an embankment, and slammed into a bridge support.

He died on impact and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to KDFW.

In a press release on its Facebook page, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said:

“The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is sad to confirm the loss of Detention Service Officer Kenneth L. Luckey # 3153 who passed away in a car accident on November 29, 2017. DSO Luckey was 51-years-old and had been an employee of the Sheriff’s Department for 20 years. He was assigned to our Release Division in the jail. We ask that you keep his family, friends, and Sheriff’s Department co-workers in your prayers…”
