Hero Down: Church Point PD Officer Holden Hare Dies After Medical Emergency

Church Point, LA – Church Point Police Department (CPPD) Officer Holden Hare died on Nov. 19 after experiencing a medical emergency.

The 34-year-old, off-duty officer was transported to Lafayette General Hospital in the early morning hours due to unspecified medical issues and passed away a short while later, the CCPD said in a press release.

“I regret to inform everyone in the Church Point community and Town of Church Point that we have lost one of our own Brothers in Blue Officer Holden Hare,” the agency’s message read. “Officer Holden Hare was a very kind and respected officer by the people in the community and was a great asset to the Church Point Police Department.”

His exact cause of death was not immediately released.

Officer Hare’s law enforcement career began in 2018, when he joined the CCPD as a reserve officer, according to his obituary.

He was named Reserve Officer of the Year in 2021 “for his commitment and dedication to the department and local community,” the tribute read.

He also enjoyed working alongside his son at the police department.

Officer Hare began his “dream career” in May, when he officially started serving the CCPD as a full-time police officer, according to his obituary.

“Holden will be remembered by those he touched for his warm, caring, and generous personality, and the quiet, humble, and fun way he approached life,” the tribute read.

Officer Hare leaves behind his wife, Wendy, and his children, Hunter and Hailey.

He is also survived by his mother, grandparents, and his three brothers.

“Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Hare Family Wendy, Hunter and Hailey Hare,” the CPPD said. “Brother Holden Hare rest easy my friend we will tow the Thin Blue Line from Here.”

Officer Hare was laid to rest on Nov. 23.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Church Point Police Department Officer Holden Hare, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.
