Hero Down: Broward Sheriff’s Deputy Marshall Peterson Dies At Home

A 28-year veteran of the Broward Sheriff's Office died at his residence on Apr. 24.

Pembroke Pines, FL – Broward Sheriff’s Office Deputy Marshall Peterson died at his residence on April 24, according to his department.

The deputy’s cause of death was not released.

Deputy Peterson, 53, was a 28-year veteran of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

According to his obituary, the Georgia native was raised in Pembroke Pines, and went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Broward Community College, where he attended the Criminal Justice Academy.

Deputy Peterson joined the sheriff’s office on Dec. 18, 1989.

In his off-time, Deputy Peterson enjoyed showcasing his 2010 Corvette Z16 Grand Sport, and was an active member of the Renegade Corvette Club.

He left behind his mother, sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew.

Deputy Peterson was laid to rest on Sunday.
