Hero Down: Bolivar PD School Resource Officer Rhonda Bond Dies After Stroke

Bolivar Police School Resource Officer Rhonda Bond died on Jan. 1 after suffering a stroke.

Bolivar, TN – Bolivar Police School Resource Officer Rhonda Bond suffered a stroke and died on New Year’s Day.

Officer Bond joined the Bolivar Police Department in October of 2019 as a school resource officer at Bolivar Elementary School, the Jackson Sun reported.

Bolivar City Court Clerk Paula Wilhite said Officer Bond was “full of energy” and left her mark despite the short time she worked for the police department.

“She hadn’t worked here but a couple months, but she really made an impression on us in that short time,” Wilhite told the Jackson Sun. “She was so friendly and outgoing, and she was just very likable.”

Bolivar Police Chief Michael Jones said the new school resource officer truly enjoyed working with the elementary students and told him so on a regular basis.

“If the kids wouldn’t have an ice cream or something because they couldn’t afford it, she’d buy it for them,” Chief Jones said, according to the Jackson Sun.

Wilhite said the popular school resource officer’s sudden death came as a shock to the Bolivar Police Department.

She said Officer Bond would be missed as much by her fellow officers as will be by the students and staff at Bolivar Elementary School, the Jackson Sun reported.

Bolivar PD expressed its sympathy to Officer Bond’s family and friends in a message beneath her picture, posted to the police department’s official Facebook page and other social media.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Bolivar Police School Resource Officer Rhonda Bond, both blood and blue. Thank you for your service.

Rest easy, hero. We’ll hold the line from here.
