Holly MatkinWest Point, NY – United States Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agent in Charge Liquat “Leo” Khan died in the line of duty on April 30, when he suffered a fatal heart attack during his physical fitness test.
The 51-year-old agent collapsed at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point as he was completing a run, according to the Army Times.
SAC Khan was found lying on Tower Road at approximately 8:15 a.m., and was rushed to Keller Army Community Hospital, the Times Herald-Record reported.
He was pronounced dead at 9:14 a.m.
“Words cannot express how saddened and deeply affected we are by Special Agent Khan’s death,” head of the U.S. Army CID and Army provost marshal Major General David Glaser said in a press release, according to the Army Times.
“He joined the Army after 9/11 because he wanted to serve the country that had given so much to him and his family,” Maj. Gen. Glaser continued. “He was a patriot, a true professional, an incredible special agent and he will be sorely missed.”
SAC Khan, a 15-year-veteran of the CID, was assigned to West Point in June of 2018, the Army Times reported.
He was in the midst of his third tour at the academy, and was also an Army SAC in two combat deployments.

He was laid to rest on Monday, the Army Times reported.
