AndrewBlakeNewport, OH – A former judge who used drugs to get children to have sex with him agreed to a plea deal which will send him to prison for 20 years.
Former Judge Tim Nolan pleaded guilty Feb. 9 to 21 counts involving crimes going as far back as 2004.
The charges included human trafficking and attempted human trafficking as well as giving drugs and alcohol to minors, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Nolan, 71, will serve 20 years in prison and pay a $100,000 fine according to the plea agreement. Nolan will be sentenced March 29.
According to the charges, Nolan paid some victims with heroin and painkillers to have sex with him.
There was one victim who lived on his property and Nolan threatened to evict her unless she performed sex acts with him, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
He also threatened victims with arrest and told one victim he’d call friends in the FBI and other law enforcement to arrest her.
Before agreeing to a plea deal, Nolan faced more than 100 years in prison from 28 felony charges that included human trafficking of a minor.
There were 19 victims including some juveniles.
“The punishment in this case does not undo the trauma inflicted on the victims, but it brings closure and some justice,” said Attorney General Andy Beshear in a statement. “I want to thank the Campbell County Police Department and our special prosecutions team for working this case.”
The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that some of the pleas can be later appealed by Nolan.
In some instances, Nolan didn’t admit to the behavior but believed there’s overwhelming evidence to convict him.
Nolan served as a state district judge in Campbell County, Kentucky from 1978 to 1986.
