Florida TV Reporter, 9 Year Old Gunned Down By Shooter Who Returned To Earlier Crime Scene

Pine Hills, FL – A Spectrum News reporter and a nine-year-old girl were both killed on Wednesday when a gunman returned to the scene of an earlier crime scene and opened fire yet again.

Spectrum News reporter Dylan Lyons had arrived to film a news standup on Hialeah Street in Pine Hills about a shooting that occurred at that spot earlier in the day at about 4:05 p.m. on Feb. 22, WESH reported.

Police said that 38-year-old Nathacha Augustin had been fatally shot there at about 11 a.m.

Witnesses said that Lyons and another Spectrum News reporters had just arrived when the gunman – later identified as 19-year-old Kevin Moses – approached their vehicle and opened fire, the Associated Press reported.

Lyons and his colleague were both shot.

“It is unclear if [the suspect] knew if they were news media or not,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said. “We’re still trying to work all of that out. That vehicle was almost exactly in the same spot as the vehicle from the homicide this morning. So, it’s unclear why exactly they were targeted.”

A WFTV news team who was also on the scene tried to give First Aid to their wounded colleagues, the Associated Press reported.

Lyons died and the other journalist remained hospitalized in critical condition, according to authorities.

After shooting the reporters, Moses then walked to a nearby house on Harrington Street and went inside and opened fire, killing a nine-year-old girl and critically wounding her mother, the Associated Press reported.

The murdered little girl has been identified as T’yonna Major, WESH reported.

Sheriff Mina said that Moses was an acquaintance of Augustin, the woman he allegedly killed on Wednesday morning.

But the sheriff said that authorities have not yet found any connection between the little girl and her mother and the man who opened fire on them, WESH reported.

Sheriff Mina said Moses was already facing murder charges for the death of Augustin and that charges would be filed for the four other victims soon.

He said that the 19-year-old gunman had an extensive criminal history that included gun charges, aggravated battery, assault with a deadly weapon, burglary, and grand theft, WESH reported.
