Akron, OH – Two Akron firefighters were placed on administrative leave, after they allegedly made pornographic videos of themselves at the city’s fire hall and posted the content to porn websites.
The investigation into the actions of Akron Fire Lieutenant Art Dean and his live-in girlfriend, Provisional Lieutenant Deann Eller, began sometime last week, when an unnamed individual told another Akron firefighter that duo’s sex acts may have been recorded on city property, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.
Multiple news outlets had also been asking the city about the identity of the female, who was allegedly naked while she worked out in a basement gym in several videos, according to the paper.
“As the leader of the Akron Fire Department, I find these allegations shocking and distressing, to say the least,” Chief Clarence Tucker said during a press conference. “I know that these allegations do not represent who we are as a department, or the extraordinary high standards to which our firefighters must hold themselves.”
“I am truly devastated that these allegations will distract from the meaningful and important work being done to keep our citizens safe and our neighborhoods strong,” Chief Tucker said.
City officials said that it did not appear that the firefighters had violated any criminal laws, but an internal investigation into the allegations was ongoing.
“We will take prompt and appropriate action based on the results of that investigation,” he added.
City officials said that the lieutenants could face additional disciplinary action – including dismissal from the department – if they were found to be in violation of the city’s anti-fraternizing policy, according to USA Today.
Lt. Dean and Lt. Eller have had a history of positive performance reports during their time with the department, the Akron Beacon Journal reported.
Both lieutenants were hired on the same date in September of 2000.
