OfficerBlueNorth Haven, CT – Yale New Haven Hospital is reporting that they have seven patients after a home exploded in New Haven during a SWAT incident.
The incident started at around 8 p.m. Wednesday for a domestic violence situation where a man had allegedly been holding his wife captive for four days, according to FOX61.
SWAT officers surrounded the home and attempted to make entry. As the officers were breaching the door, a barn on the property exploded and the officers were caught in the blast.
Initial reports are that six officers were injured, but Yale New Haven Hospital reports seven patients.
It’s unknown if anybody was injured besides the officers.
Preliminary information is that the officers suffered broken bones and burns but are in stable condition.
The fire appears to have spread to multiple structures, but it’s not known if any other homes are in danger.
The suspect is not in custody and police could be heard attempting to communicate with him on the loud speaker.
Over 100 first responders are reported to be on scene managing the fire and attempting to make contact with the suspect.
