Sandy MaloneWest Monroe, LA – Police have arrested a man who allegedly opened fire on the home of “Duck Dynasty” star Willie Robertson on Friday.
The incident occurred at about 2:33 p.m. on April 24 when someone inside a pickup truck began spraying bullets at the Robertson’s family compound where several different families live, the Monroe News-Star reported.
The property has a fence and gate and the houses are located far from the property line, but even so, bullets penetrated two of the homes, including the one where one of his son’s families lives with a brand-new baby.
“We were pretty shook up,” Robertson told the Monroe News-Star. “It looks like they were just spraying bullets across my property.”
Robertson is the CEO of Duck Commander, a successful duck call and decoy company based in West Monroe, the Associated Press reported.
The Robertson family became famous after A&E launched the television series “Duck Dynasty” in 2012 about the highly-entertaining family behind the business.
Security cameras captured the drive-by shooting and showed a white-over-brown or beige Ford F-250 pickup truck drive by the house with somebody shooting at the Robertson’s estate out of the vehicle’s window, the Monroe News-Star reported.
The incident was being investigated by the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said there were other people inside the truck with the person who was shooting, the Associated Press reported.
“I’ve been in close contact with the investigators,” Robertson said. “It seems local to me, but I can’t be sure.”
Nobody was in the yard when the shooting happened, but Robertson told the Monroe News-Star that was pure luck.
“Nobody was outside at the time, but everybody had been out about five minutes before,” Robertson said. “I had just gone to the store when it happened.”
Numerous family members are staying at Robertson’s house during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown, the Monroe News-Star reported.
Robertson said he believed his property had been targeted.
“I’m 100% certain, but I don’t know why,” he said.
Ouachita Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Daniel King, Jr. on Saturday in connection with the incident, according to a post on the sheriff’s department’s official Facebook page.
King was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with one count of aggravated assault by drive-by shooting and one count of criminal neglect of family, according to the Monroe News-Star.
His bond was set at $150,000.
