Cops Catch Domestic Abuser After Doorbell Camera Captures Man Hitting Wife

A father who was out of state saw his daughter being attacked via the Ring doorbell camera and called police for help.

Mesa, AZ – Mesa police locked up a man who was filmed by his Ring doorbell abusing his wife.

The incident began on Aug. 31 when a man saw his adult daughter being hit by her husband on their doorbell camera, KPNX reported.

The father was out of state at the time and contacted the Mesa police for assistance.

Court documents said officers were dispatched to his daughter’s home, and when they arrived, she told them that her husband had also hit her earlier in the day, KPNX reported.

The daughter also told police that her husband, Ryan Stahle, had been making suicidal threats earlier that day.

Officers viewed the doorbell camera video and said they saw the daughter coming out of the home holding her cellphone, according to KPNX.

The officers said the video showed her husband approached her and yanked her cell phone out of her hand.

When she walked away from him, police said the video showed Stahle struck his wife with his hand, KPNX reported.

Officers said the woman’s children were in the car, parked on the street just a few yards away from where Stahle was hitting their mother.

Stahle initially denied having struck his wife, but then eventually admitted that he did hit her while she had her phone in her hand, KPNX reported.

Police arrested the man and he was charged with aggravated domestic violence and assault.

Court documents showed that the incident was Stahle’s fifth arrest for aggravated domestic violence since July of 2014, KPNX reported.

Doorbell cameras have been playing more of a part in exposing criminal acts.

In October, a California man was arrested after he was caught by his neighbor’s doorbell camera attacking his ex-girlfriend, according to KCAL.

The doorbell video showed a woman running up to the front door of a house, knocking, and asking for help.

Then the video showed Robert Mendez ran up to the woman and grabbed her by the hair and dragged her away as she screamed, KCAL reported.

The video showed Mendez continued hitting the woman as he dragged her.

Mendez was charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and false imprisonment, according to KCAL.
