SandyMaloneSt. Louis, MO – A U.S. Marshal was shot in the chest in North St. Louis County on Monday morning.
Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Service Fugitive Task Force had just arrived to serve a warrant at a home in Glasgow Village, and were just starting to get out of their vehicles, when the suspect began firing at them, KTVI reported.
U.S. Marshals returned fire, but it was not known if the suspect was struck.
After shooting at the officers, the suspect barricaded himself in his home, located in the 10300 block of Durness. He is currently in a standoff with police.
The U.S. Marshal who was shot in the chest was wearing his bullet-proof vest, KSDK reported.
He was transported to the hospital and sources told KTVI that he was “OK,” but remained at the hospital for observation.
Police told KTVI that the suspect was wanted for first-degree assault and domestic assault. KMOV reported that one of the warrants was for a shooting.
There was a heavy police presence in the area as the standoff continued between the suspect and officer from the St. Louis County Police, the Bellefontaine Police, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service. KTVI reported that officers had weapons pointed at the home.
KMOV reported that the Riverview Gardens School District was on a “soft lockdown.”
