Mission, TX – A U.S. Border Patrol agent was killed early on Wednesday morning while he was chasing a group of migrants that had just illegally crossed the U.S. border into Texas.
The incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on Dec 7 while the 38-year-old federal law enforcement agent was engaged in a high-speed pursuit, FOX News reported.
Sources told FOX News that the agent was pursuing the group of undocumented immigrants at a high rate of speed on an ATV when he crashed.
Authorities said that fellow agents found the wounded hero unresponsive and immediately began efforts to save his life while EMS responded to the scene.
He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died, FOX News reported.
Federal officials have not yet released the name of the fallen agent.
