St. Louis, MO – Two St. Louis police officers were shot Saturday evening and at least one of the officers is in very critical condition.
The incident happened in the 3700 block of Hartford Street just before 6 p.m., according to KMOV.
Officers responded to the area for a shooting call and were searching for a victim when an officer was shot in the head.
Other officers responded to the officer down, and another officer was shot in the leg.
The gunman is barricaded inside of a residence, according to St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“These officers, all they’re trying to do is their job and try to help a person who’s wounded and they come under fire themselves,” St. Louis PD Chief John Hayden told reporters. “The officer who’s most critically injured, pray for him.”
The condition of the officer who was shot in the leg has not been released.
No further information about the suspect has been released, and the standoff is ongoing.
