BREAKING: Two Baltimore Officers Shot While Working On Regional Task Force

Woodlawn, MD – Two Baltimore police officers were shot at a shopping center in Woodlawn on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred on July 13 at the Security Square Mall located in the 6900-block of Security Boulevard, WJLA reported.

Sources said that the officers who were shot were part of the Warrant Apprehension Task Force, ABC News reported.

The officers were working with the U.S. Marshals regional fugitive task force when they were shot, according to law enforcement sources.

The wounded officers were both members of the Baltimore Police Department, not the county police department.

Sources told WJLA that the officers were attempting to arrest a homicide suspect when the suspect opened fire on them.

“Active scene at Security Square Mall where earlier two law enforcement officers were injured,” Baltimore County Police tweeted. “One suspect has been transported to the hospital as well as the members of law enforcement.”

The wounded officers were airlifted to University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma, WBAL reported.

Officials have not released any information about the identities of the wounded officers but announced that their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Baltimore County police sources told The Baltimore Sun that the suspect involved in the shooting of the officers had died.

Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison was on his way to Shock Trauma to see the officers, ABC News reported.
