San Antonio, TX – A Balcones Heights police officer was shot while responding to a call on Wednesday.
The incident occurred at approximately 2 p.m. at the SOL Apartments located at 6945 IH-10 West, on the southeast side of the Interstate 10 and Loop 410 interchange, KENS reported.
The Balcones Heights Police Department (BHPD) confirmed an officer has been shot, but did not specify what occurred prior to the shooting.
The officer was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) released photos of a suspect and a pickup truck believed to be involved in the shooting.

There is “an active scene involving Balcones Heights PD,” the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) told KSAT. “We can confirm that this is a multiple agency effort.”
Nearby Dellview Elementary was placed on lockdown status in the wake of the shooting, although most of the staff and students were already gone at the time of the incident because it was an early dismissal day, KENS reported.
